Bal le Sizo Ngathu Changalhme


  1. Taro (Bal in Hmar)
  2. Eurya Japonica Leaves (Sizo in Hmar)
  3. Fermented Fish
  4. Green Chilli
  5. Baking Soda
  6. Water
  7. Salt


  1. Peel the Taro and cut it into chunks.
  2. Wash the Eurya Japonica Leaves.
  3. Put both in a cooking vessel.
  4. Add water to about an inch above the level of the vegetables.
  5. Add 4 pieces of Fermented Fish.
  6. Pound Green Chilli in a Mortar and Pastel and add.
  7. Cook until the Taro is cooked soft, stirring occasionally.
  8. Lower the flame of the gas stove.
  9. Add 1/3 spoon of Baking Soda.
  10. Stir occasionally and also mash some of the Taro chunks.
  11. Cook until the Eurya Japonica Leaves are soft.
  12. Add Salt to taste.
